The Mouawad Diamond Impact Fund and Miss Universe join forces for a powerful message of unity
Displaying different colors, clarity and cuts, on the outside diamonds appear different, but on the inside they are all the same. Likewise, humans come to life under vastly different circumstances and are each shaped by their environment, but no matter how we appear on the outside, it’s what’s on the inside that makes us human. This is the core message of a new video featuring Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi and Mouawad Diamond Impact Fund Leader and Mouawad 5th generation Co-guardian Jimmy Mouawad.
The Mouawad Diamond Impact Fund is a permanent, philanthropic initiative by Mouawad, whose purpose is to create a world where individuals have better opportunities to thrive and prosper, regardless of their race, gender or socio-economic status. MDIF focuses on bettering lives through education and skills development. The new video includes footage of five South African nationals who were supported by an MDIF-funded program in collaboration with the South African State Diamond Trader that offered specialised training at Mouawad’s Bangkok Diamond Manufacturing facility. This program equipped the trainees with the skills to go on to build sustainable careers in the diamond industry.
Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi, a South African national, appears in the video to lend her support to the message that no matter what is on the outside, it’s on the inside that makes us human. Her message is a call for unity above all. Understanding this truth and the powerful unity that comes with knowing we are all the same is a core value of the Mouawad Diamond Impact Fund.
“Through the MDIF we have been given the opportunity to make an extraordinary global impact,” said Jimmy Mouawad. “We have the power to craft beauty in all forms, to create meaning, and to give future generations the chance to carry our legacy of unity forward. At Mouawad we believe that what will carry the world forward is the difference we make and not what makes us different.”
